Princess Marie of Denmark was born Marie Agathe Odile Cavallier in Paris, France on 6th February 1976. She is the only child of her parents marriage though she has some half siblings. After her parent's divorce Marie moved to Geneva, Switzerland.
Marie attended a Swiss boarding school from the age of 11. Marie went to university in Massachusetts and later, New York. Like her husband Marie loves sport in particular, skiing, car racing and boxing.
Marie and Joachim announced their engagement on 21st November 2007. In May 2008 the couple got married. Joachim and Marie have two children together, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena. Princess Marie is also stepmother to Joachim's sons from his first marriage Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix.
Since becoming a Princess of Denmark Marie's primary goal has been to learn Danish. Princess Marie has also conducted official tours of Morocco, China, Hong Kong, Russia and Mexico. She is a parton of a number of charities such as UNESCO, The Aids Foundation, Autism Denmark and the Danish Epilepsy Association.
